MTA currently has a new COVID "Vaccination or Test" program. It is a program that allow employees the option of either getting vaccinated or getting tested at over 130 locations in addition to many subway/railroad stations - and on company time! (Check with your supervisor for further details.) There are currently 2 test options available: nasal or saliva. Testing is available and open to all MTA employees and it is FREE! If you have not been vaccinated, make sure you get a weekly test. Not only is it required, but it helps you and your fellow workers know that proper efforts are being made to ensure everyone's safety. Vaccinated or not, one can still catch the virus and it is always good to be on the safe side and take a COVID test regularly. It is an opportunity for all of us to take care of ourselves and each other.
This is definitely a great example of the MTA's commitment to being an “Employer of Choice”. 👍 Why? It shows a conscious effort to acknowledge the diverse groups and individuals that this organization is comprised of as well as respecting our differences, providing choices without being judgmental and doing everything possible to keep us and our customers safe and healthy. MTA has provided an option whereas many other agencies and companies have simply imposed a vaccination mandate with no options. That choice is available and it’s up to you not to waste the opportunity.
For many (as you’ve seen in the news/media) vaccination is preferred, but if you choose not to vaccinate, please be sure to make every effort to do your weekly Covid testing. Please help spread the word to your colleagues about the MTA COVID Vaccination or Test program.
Vax or unvax, please remember to be kind and respectful to each other!
Stay Safe and Be Healthy! 🙏🙏🙏

“For Asian Americans, Lunar New Year is an incredibly important, festive and deeply traditional holiday,” said Rep. Meng. “It’s the most significant time of year for the Asian American community, and is celebrated in the U.S. and across the globe. It has also been observed for thousands of years. With Asian Americans being the fastest growing population in our country, and with the popularity of the holiday continuing to grow, it makes sense to make Lunar New Year a federal holiday. The time has come to make this happen. My bill, coupled with my resolution, would demonstrate that the holiday celebrated by millions is also valued by their government. I look forward to shepherding these measures through the House, and I am excited to wish everyone celebrating a very happy Lunar New Year!”
Lunar New Year celebrates the culture, heritage and contributions of Asian Americans, and this year begins the year of the Tiger which symbolizes a competitive nature, courage, and ambition.
NYS Senator John Liu – “The Lunar New Year is an important holiday in our community when families, friends and communities come together to reflect on the past, and gear up for a new year of good fortune.

Mid-Autumn Festival day also known as Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival, is a traditional festival celebrated by many East and Southeast Asian people. It is the second-most important holiday after Chinese New Year with a history dating back over 3,000 years, when the Emperor of Ching worshipped the moon for bountiful harvests. It marks the end of the autumn harvest, the Mid-Autumn Festival was traditionally a time to give thanks to the gods. It is also a time of year that the moon is at its brightest, which is why lunar legends have always been attached to the celebration. The festival is held on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese lunisolar calendar with a full moon at night. Lanterns of all size and shapes, are carried and displayed – symbolic beacons that light people's path to prosperity and good fortune. Mooncakes, a rich pastry typically filled with sweet-bean, yolk, meat or lotus-seed paste, are traditionally eaten during this festival. Available in your local Chinatown bakeries! Eat them with your friends and family!
