Why should libraries have a role?
The Ancient Library of Alexandria, which considered as the largest and the most significant library in the ancient world, and was in charge of collecting all the world's knowledge, and most of the staff was occupied with the task of translating works onto papyrus paper. It did so through an aggressive and well-funded royal mandate involving trips to the book fairs of Rhodes and Athens. According to Galen, any books found on ships that came into port were taken to the library, and were listed as "books of the ships".
The Translation Movement was a movement started in the House of Wisdom in Baghdad which translated many Greek classics into Arabic. By translating many of the Greek works in that era, the Arab were able to preserve most of the Greek's secular works which wouldn't be preserved without such a movement.
The role of acquiring and disseminating knowledge in libraries was and will still the major part of its work. It will not be the same as it was, but it should be modified to attain the same aspect. In libraries, researchers, students, and many people who are eager to knowledge are gathered. It is also considered as a vital place for social and educational communications. That makes it a very qualified place to improve and do programs for establishing and engaging in translating Wikipedia.
Wikipedia became a very important player accepted by some researchers as a secondary source for researchers, or at list a start in doing a research. Also, More Participation in Wikipedia will help users to find more resources and approach the library more frequently.
