Posture 79. Step Up, Deflect, Parry and Beat with fist
(1) [Continuing] from the previous movement, relax the waist and slowly inhale. Keeping both feet in place, sit back on the left leg. At the same time, grasp the left hand towards the left and pluck [cǎi] to end with a Yang fist that is withdrawn to the side of the waist. Also, coil the right fist around, going from the side of the waist towards the back, moving up [towards the front] while deflecting [bān] to the left, and then parrying [lán] down with a Yang fist. Look at the right fist and face the southwest, as in Figure 234.

(2) [Continuing] from the previous movement, relax the waist. Turn the toes of the right foot outward approximately 30 degrees, and then sit solidly on the right leg. Shift body forward and take one step forward with the left foot, squatting the body down. At the same time, coil the left hand around, going from the rear and then moving up to end in a Yin fist. Then, coil [the left fist] downward to change to a Yang fist that is deflecting [bān] and parrying [lán] to the lower right direction. Draw the right hand as Yang fist to the side of the waist. Sink the Qi to the dan-tian, and then focus [the Qi] into both palms. Look at the left fist and face the northwest, as in Figure 235.

(3) [Continuing] from the previous movement, relax the waist and slowly inhale. Begin to push through the right leg to end in a left bow stance. At the same time, stretch the right fist forward at shoulder level using a standing fist. Change the left hand to a vertical standing palm that is supporting at the inside of the right wrist. Sink the Qi to the dan-tian, and then focus [the Qi] into the right fist. Look at the right fist and face the west, as in Figure 236.
