四二. 上步,右,高探馬
(一). 由前式鬆腰,徐徐吸氣,先坐左腿, 右腳外擺, 再坐實右腿, 左腳前上成中定步, 同時右拳变掌, 由下向後繞, 轉囬成陰掌,置於左[should be右]耳側, 左手以肘為軸, 向下向內翻向前壓平成陽掌, 面向東, 目視左掌, 如圖124。
Posture 42. Step Up, Right High Pat on Horse
(1) [Continuing] from the previous movement, relax the waist and slowly inhale. At first, sit back on the left leg and swing the right toes outward. Then sit solidly on the right leg and step the left foot forward to end in a center setting stance [zhòng dìng bù]. At the same time, change the right fist to a palm and coil it down to the back and turn it up to a Yin palm at the side of the right ear. Using the [left] elbow as an axis, flip the left hand down to the inside and then press down [with the back of the forearm] towards the front to end in a Yang palm that is level [with the elbow]. Face towards the east and look at the left palm, as in Figure 124.

(二). 由前式鬆腰,蹬開右腿成左弓步, 同時右掌由右耳側用外緣, 經左掌上面向前上方推砍, 氣沉丹田以貫注兩掌, 面東, 目視右掌, 如圖125。
(2) [Continuing] from the previous movement, relax the waist and begin to push through the right leg to end in a left bow stance. At the same time, move the right palm from the side of the right ear, passing over the top of the left palm and chopping forward with the outside edge of the [right] hand. Sink the Qi to the dan-tian, and then focus [the Qi] into the two palms. Face the east and look at the right palm, as in Figure 125.
