十八. 斜單鞭
(一). 由前式鬆腰, 徐徐吸氣, 坐左腿,扣右腳,身左轉面西,同時右手由面前向西北劃圓弧挑成鉤掌, 左手扶右附內, 坐右腿, 提起左腳跟, 面對西北,如圖51。
Posture 18. Diagonal Single Whip
(1) [Continuing] from the previous movement, relax the waist and slowly inhale. Sit back on the left leg and turn the toes of right foot inward [kou-bu]. Turn the body left to face the west. At the same time, draw an arc with the right hand, going in front of the face and then raising up towards the northwest with a hooked palm. Use the left hand to support at the inside of the right wrist. [Then], sit on the right leg and lift the left heel. Face the northwest, as in Figure 51.

(二). 由前式鬆腰, 身左後轉向東南,左腳向東南移足一步,右鉤手不動,左手心向裏
裹,由面前隨身左轉向外翻, 再向前按平成陰掌, 右腿徐徐蹬開成左弓步, 面東南,如圖52。
(2) [Continuing] from the previous movement, relax the waist and turn the body back towards the left to face the southeast. Take one step with the left foot towards the southeast, while keeping the right palm unchanged. At the same time, change the center of the left hand to face inward until front of the face, and then as the body turns flip the [left hand] to face outward. Then press [the left hand] forward at [shoulder] level, ending in a Yin palm. Slowly begin to push through the right leg to end in a left bow stance. Face the southeast, as in Figure 52.
