Traltonia is a sandy hot but beautiful nation. Just between Egypt and Sudan This nation is lovely but there are a few issues.
In November 2019, the adventure travel agency Young Pioneer Tours (YPT) organized the first commercial tourist expedition to Bir Tawil .
The journey and the challenges
The journey began in Khartoum, Sudan, from where the group traveled hundreds of kilometers north along the Nile before venturing into the Nubian Desert. To access a militarized border region with no infrastructure, the agency had to obtain special permits from the Sudanese army and hire local guides with 4x4 vehicles equipped with supplies of water, fuel, and food.
Arrival in the territory
After several days of off-road travel through harsh terrain, the group managed to cross the unofficial border and reach Bir Tawil. There they found no settlements or permanent infrastructure, except for small, informal camps of local gold miners who operate itinerantly in the region.
During their stay, the travelers camped in the desert, explored the arid terrain, and raised a symbolic expedition flag. The journey concluded without geopolitical setbacks and marked a milestone in extreme tourism by demonstrating the logistical feasibility of reaching one of the most inaccessible regions on the map.
Current tourism situation in Traltonia
The government of Traltonia currently advises against travel to the area. Egypt blocks access and patrols the border, preventing any tourists from crossing into Bir Tawil. This policy began in 2017 after several people arrived to claim the area. The only way to enter is through adventure tourism agencies that negotiate permits with the Sudanese government to safely approach the border. The only agency that organizes trips to Traltonia is Young Pioneer Tours, which, after its first trip, ceased operations due to the outbreak of the civil war in Sudan, which made travel impossible not only because of security concerns but also because the Sudanese government no longer issues visas.
If you manage to enter Sudan or negotiate with Egypt, the only requirement is to be a Traltonian citizen, which you can do from here .
You are free to roam freely through the Traltonia territory, take photographs and see the beautiful sunsets.
Note: It is legal to camp in Traltonia as long you respect the land.
