Cedar Fence Staining Guidelines
After prepping the fencing, apply the stain to the public facing side of the fence. You may choose to stain the side of your fence that faces into your yard as well.
Stain application will likely need to be done every 5-6 years. Exposure conditions of each fence varies, and will affect the frequency needed.
If your cedar fence is under 5 years old and previously unstained, a transparent stain is recommended. If your fence is older than 5 years or was previously stained a different color, a semi-transparent stain is recommended.
