The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie[b] is a 2020 role-playing video game developed by Nihon Falcom. The game is a part of the Trails series, itself a part of the larger The Legend of Heroes series. It was released in Japan for the PlayStation 4 in August 2020, with ports released for the Nintendo Switch and Windows in August 2021. An English version was released in July 2023, additionally being ported to PlayStation 5. Trails into Reverie is considered the end of the series' Crossbell and Erebonia arcs and serves as the precursor to The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak.

Trails into Reverie plays similarly to the Trails of Cold Steel tetralogy, being a traditional Japanese role-playing video game with turn-based battles. The game features a new Crossroads system where players can switch between three different story arcs, with each focusing on a different protagonist: the leader of Crossbell's Special Support Section, Lloyd Bannings, the instructor of Class VII, Rean Schwarzer, and the masked character "C".[1]

Meanwhile, Rufus and his team, consisting of Swin Abel and Nadia Rayne, defectors of a secret society known as Garden, as well as Lapis Rosenberg, a sentient doll are investigating Rufus's "doppelganger" in Crossbell and the source of his power, receiving help from Duvalie the Swift and Renne Bright, defectors of Ouroboros as well as Arios Maclaine, a famous bracer of Crossbell. They discover that Lapis is the personality of a singularity named Elysium, which possesses powerful calculation abilities and can bring them to life; however, Lapis lost control of Elysium when a calculation spiraled out of control and corrupted the system, ultimately resulting in the Supreme Leader coming into existence and taking over Crossbell.

The game was announced by Nihon Falcom in December 2019 for the PlayStation 4.[3] It was released in Japan on August 27, 2020.[4] Ports for the Nintendo Switch and Windows were released on August 26, 2021, by Clouded Leopard Entertainment in Japan.[5] Like the Trails of Cold Steel games, Trails into Reverie was made using the PhyreEngine game engine and was the last game by Nihon Falcom to use it.[6] NIS America released the game in English for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Switch in North America and Europe on July 7, 2023,[citation needed] and on July 14 in Australasia.[7] The English release was riddled with bugs with most Link Attacks not working, catching certain fish crashing the game, the first auto save crashing the game for some players making playing the game itself impossible for those players, inability for European players to transfer save files from PS4 versions of IV when playing on a PS5, and interactions missing from intimacy events on all consoles other than the PS4. A patch was released a week later on PC,[8] two weeks later on PlayStation,[9] and three weeks later on Switch[10] to fix these issues.

So, I recently saw a trailer of this game. It looked really cool, so I went to my local game store and pre ordered it. I didn't realize it was a game that capped off 3 other stories. While I was there I bought Coldsteel 3/4 used for the switch. But my question is how do I go about playing Reverie. Can I just play it raw without playing the other games, or should I dive into a 2-3 years journey playing the whole series, as I let Reverie collect dust on my bookshelf?

The more I read up on this series, the more confused I end up getting. Although it feels kinda like a Dragon Quest 11 situation. Back when DQ 11 came out, everyone said you need to play DQ1-6 and 8 to appreciate the game. Been a fan of DQ for a long time, so when DQ 11 came out it was no problem. But asking someone to dump over 1000 hours into a series seems like a huge ask.

All right so a small update, I took advantage of the steam summer sale, and bought the trails in the sky trilogy. I just got to chapter two of the first game, and all I can say is wow. The music in the game is really nice, the story so far seems okay (im sure its going to get better). The thing that really got me going was the combat, combat for me really makes or breaks a game. The combat in the game feels like a cross between Final Fantasy and Fire Emblem. I just get into random battles because its so much fun. Its like a mini puzzle rather then a brainless mash attack.

What destinies await these three fateful figures? Use the Trails to Walk system to switch between Rean Schwarzer, Lloyd Bannings, and the masked figure "C", and determine the fates of key characters and locations within Zemuria. Dive into refined tactical combat with new features such as United Front, and discover new allies and challenges within the halls of the True Reverie Corridor!

Trails into Reverie features the "Trails To Walk" system, which allows you to swap between the 3 character routes each chapter. For the most part it doesn't matter what order you do these chapters in, but if you're someone who cares for optimal story reveals, this guide is for you! (I personally would recommend following the chapter 3/4 orders).

All over the city, the Special Support Section, Crossbell Guardian Force and their affiliates start battling the IDF remnants, successfully pushing back against the surprised occupiers, who rush numerous soldiers and their remaining Zauber Soldats to stop the uprising. The SSS, accompanied by Juna Crawford, take over a Sorge unit and use it to ram straight into the Orchis Tower. The group finds hostages in the tower; Juna leaves to get them to safety, while the rest of the team battle their way up to the rooftop to apprehend the ringleaders. The enemy leaders unleash an Asmodine unit, but the SSS are able to disable it. With their trump card destroyed, the enemy leaders surrender and are apprehended. Their subordinates soon surrender upon hearing of their capture.

The group celebrates their victory, while the remnants are sent to Aurochs Fort to be imprisoned alongside Rufus. With Crossbell finally freed, they attend Olivert's wedding. As both Erebonia and Calvard cannot agree on the state of Crossbell, the Septian Church declares Crossbell to be a fully automonous state, securing their independence. The events are recorded on a terminal, but the mastermind of the events activates Project BABEL as everything falls into place.

3/15 | Elsewhere, in Ymir, Rean Schwarzer and Kurt Vander are fighting Matteus Vander, who appears to knock Kurt off the cliff. In another area, Juna and Altina Orion are fighting Claire Rieveldt. A few hours before these fights, Rean, Class VII and Claire arrived at Ymir, where Rean introduces his students to his parents, Teo and Lucia Schwarzer. After spending some time in the quiet town, Claire brings them to a mountain road, where they run into Matteus, who inexplicably attacks them. Matteus states that they will need to defeat him by 3 p.m. or they will be disqualified, just as Claire apologizes for misleading them, activating a trap. Ash shoves Juna and Altina out of the way, leaving him and Musse pinned.

3/15 In yet another area, several Ebon Defense Force's soldiers have apprehended a young girl and confiscate her suitcase, before a boy arrives and the two take the four soldiers out. They are introduced as Nadia Rayne and Swin Abel. From a distance, a masked man watches the duo and trails them. A mysterious shell ambushes the two, with the man appearing and assisting them in disabling the combat shell, before taking the trunk for himself. Nadia wonders if the man is C, who confirms her suspicions. Nadia and Swin were tasked with delivering the suitcase to a man named C a month ago. The three then decide to open the trunk, finding a girl who awakens to the three, asking them who they are.

The first stop the four go to is the Imperial Museum, where they meet Dorothee. She informs them that there have been strange sounds in the catacombs the past few days and asks them to investigate. They find monsters in the catacombs; after clearing a few, a spectre appears, which they also dispatch of. As they continue searching for clues, they soon run into Jusis Albarea and Millium Orion, who reveal they're investigating companies buying bulk products, but these "companies" were simply fronts and that they can't track them. Jusis suspects that the bulk purchases might be linked to his cousin, unsure of what he is trying now. They then arrive at Mater Park and find Elliot Craig. As they leave, Carl Regnitz contacts them to meet at a hotel, where they also find Alfin Reise Arnor with him. Carl reveals that several soldiers and/or their relatives have been acting suspiciously and did not denounce Rufus' forced annexation of Crossbell.

Arriving in the catacombs, Lapis quickly shows off her combat skills. They soon hear several soldiers discussing unknown matters and decide to trail them, with C using his RAMDA cloaking device to conceal himself and Swin, separating into two groups to gather intelligence. Due to his, Nadia believes that C is a member of Hercules.

During the investigation, Swin and C run into Rean and Elise in the city. Rean senses their presence, but is unable to spot them due to the RAMDA device. Moving on, Swin and C find the Ebon Defense Force in the catacombs, confirming their suspicions. Elsewhere, Nadia and Lapis go on a tour and eating spree. They bump into the rest of Rean's group, with Nadia tripping Lapis to steal Millium's Arcus II. Millium reveals a tracking option in the Arcus units, but the group simply ends up revisiting the food tour in the process as that was what Nadia was intent on doing. They trail the two to Mater Park, where they learn of a "masked man" and "sludge clearing".

Back in Joerg's workshop, the five run into a trap that separates them into three groups. Renne is greeted by her "parents", but she realizes the deception and cuts them down before they could kill her. She then scolds Novartis for such a dirty trick, stating that Campanella was likely to perform such an act. Novartis wonders if Renne still hates her parents, but she states otherwise and that she'll give him a painful death if he tries to interfere with her old family. Novartis states that he has no intention of doing so and asks if she would like to return. Renne declines, stating that her older brother and sister would look for her if she did so. Novartis states that he needs to greet the other guests, so Renne continues on alone. e24fc04721
