New Member Registration

Step 1  //  Review Troop Info Fact Sheet and Trail Life program

• Download and Review the 2024-2025 TX-1874 Information Sheet Be sure to review the costs.

• Explore the www.traillifeusa.com website for information about TLUSA:  TLUSA Who We Are, Core Values, Program Materials, General FAQs 

• Download and Read our Troop Policy Handbook, sign the last page, and turn/send in with medical forms.

• Ask questions about participation requirements, costs, uniforms, etc. Boys may visit the troop once before registering. Prayerfully consider how you might also be involved! 

Step 2  //  Ready to Register? FIRST, register with Trail Life National

• New Members, contact walkworthy2018@gmail.com, Troopmaster Steven Cunningham to request a Registration Invitation via email. Look out for an email from Trail Life Connect. Be sure to check your spam folder. 

  • Upon logging into your Trail Life Connect Account, go to Profile > Add Son. Follow the instructions to register your son(s). 

  • Select the grade level based on age. Trail Life levels are based on boys’ ages on October 31st, not their progress in school. See the Chart below to determine your son’s TL grade level for the 2024 Program Year.

• DO NOT check the Opt-Out box or you/your son will not be invited to Trail Life events in the future, nor will you receive important correspondence.

• Trailman Email or Username. If your trailman is a Nav/Adv (11+), please consider creating an email address for him to use for troop communications. If not, make a username for your trailman.

• Create a password for Trailman account. Try something simple like his favorite Super Hero and number.

• Adult CC email. A parent email must be added to every trailman profile, or you will not receive troop communications or invitations to events in the future.

• Read the consent & media release form carefully. If you check I DO NOT authorize, then there will be times when your son might be asked to step out of group pictures. If you accidentally check I DO NOT, there is nothing we can do. It will stay that way until you reregister.

• Pay the $30.70 annual membership fee online to TLUSA.  For more information about Trail Life Connect and it’s features, go here.

• Transferring from another TL troop? Talk to the Troopmaster for details on how to transfer your TLC account to our troop. You will need your the email address used in Trail Life Connect. 

• If your spouse would also like a parent Trail Life Connect account for access to the troop calendar, advancements, Trail Life information, and email reminders, go to Profile>Add Parent and follow the steps to provide their name and email.  

Step 3  //  Complete Registration with the Troop

• Pay Troop Dues - $60 per trailman – $120 family cap for 3 or more Trailman. Payment plans are available if needed, $30 due in August and $30 due in January for a total of $60. If writing a check, make it payable to FBC Roanoke. Or click the link to pay now online. https://1874-troop-dues-2024-2025.cheddarup.com

• FILL OUT THE HEALTH FORMS when you pay Troop Dues at the link above. OR print the form below and fill out.

• Download and Complete YOUTH Medical Health Form, EVERY registered Trailman MUST fill this form out. Include a copy of the insurance card if available.  You can save a copy from year to year to make it easier! Please be sure to fill out ALLERGIES and whatever info you would want an Emergency Responder to know. It should print cleanly on two pages, front and back or one-sided. Do not staple. There are TWO signatures required.

• Troop Policy Signature Page - one per family

• Child Safety Youth Protection Policies: Any adult not registering as a leader, but attending meetings and events must read and sign this document.

• Email all filled-out forms to Troop Secretary or turn them in at the next meeting.

Step 4  //  Order Uniform & Handbook

• See Uniform Examples. 

• You can check our uniform closet to see if we have any uniforms that will fit your trailman. 

• Go to the Trail Life Store. Order Uniform and Handbook.

• If registering as a leader, don’t forget to order your uniform as well.

Step 5 //  Stay Up-to-date / Joining Award

• Print/Save the Trail Life TX-1874 Troop Calendar 

• Create a Band account. Band is an app you can download, or you can access the website on your computer. We use Band as our troop forum to discuss ideas, send quick reminders, get feedback, and share pictures. Please join the Band app via this link: https://band.us/n/aea07dF9Qdc3O

• Look out for Trail Life Connect emails to RSVP and stay up to date on troop information.

• Mark Monday, August 26th, 6:15pm, this is our first troop meeting of the year

• Begin working on Joining Award/Rank Information with your son.   Woodlands      Navs/Advs
