Troop – Program and Age Guidelines (age deadline by October 31st)

Ø Patrol Meetings: Monday nights at FBC’s The Hangar

o Meets 2 Mondays a month, 6:15-8:00 p.m.

o Plus, one Hit the Trail event per month. See calendar for changes.

Ø Woodland Trails: Elementary School

o Fox Patrol (K – 1st) at least 5 years old AND in Kindergarten

o Hawk Patrol (2nd – 3rd) at least 7 years old

o Mountain Lion Patrol (4th – 5th) at least 9 years old

Ø Navigators: Middle School 6-8 Grade, at least 11 years old

Ø Adventurers: High School 9-12 Grade, at least 14 years old

We Need Your Help: Fall 2024

★ All Woodlands Trails Families are encouraged to have one parent register as a Registered Adult / Leader where at all possible.

★ Troop Committee is a great place to serve if you are unable to attend Monday meetings regularly; positions such as: Community Service, Fundraising, Equipment Coordinator, Camping Coordinator, etc.

★ Trail Guides: Registered Adults (age 18 or over) who assist the Ranger, Trailmaster, or Advisor in delivering the troop program.

★ Trail Badge Mentors: Registered Adults who provide Trail Badge training to Trailmen in the Navigators and Adventures Patrols.

★ Administrative Help:

o Award Ceremonies Coordinator(s)

o Fundraising Coordinator

★ Talk to the Troopmaster and make a difference!

Expected Cost for a New Trailman

1. National Trail Life Registration $37.97 (annual, paid by family to Trail Life National online when registering)

$43.19 Adult Registration fee

2. Youth Troop Dues: $60* (annual) – Helps cover Troop budget.

Paid by family to troop before 1st meeting.

3. Uniform/Program Materials $12-$15 T-Shirt

$17 Handbook

4. Special Events/Other Activities Varies Hit the Trail Field Trip

$10-$25 est. Weekend Campouts, plus individual equipment as needed

Uniform FAQs

Uniforms:

Troop TX-1874 uses the “Troop Uniform” (Formal Button-Down Shirt) and the “Trail Uniform” (Activity Shirt) as a Class B shirt for outings when it would not be appropriate to wear the formal uniform. The formal uniform shirt will be required for Monday night meetings. You may purchase the formal uniform shirt only and see the options below for pant/shorts in lieu of the formal uniform pants.

Trailmen may wear any black uniform pants.

You can buy just the TLUSA Uniform Shirt ($45) and Coordinating Patrol Shoulder Loops.
The tri-color hat, pants, and belt are great, but feel free to just get the shirt if you’d prefer to save some money. If you do not purchase the official uniform pants, please see other preferred options below for pants.
