PD Mosaic - Online Professional Development Platform

I was responsible for PD Mosaic, an online platform for teacher professional development from 2014 - 2020.

It responded to a need for PD resources that focused on Quebec classrooms, specifically in Adult Education but not limited to Adult Education. We used the resources when accompanying teachers as they made changes to their practices.

Here are some of the resources on PD Mosaic.

Web Sites - for organizing & sharing material quickly

Here are some of the sites I have created since 2014. I now use them on a regular basis to organize materials for teacher professional development as well as teaching.

I was inspired by teachers who use sites to organize material for their students to use in small groups or individually - both in and out of the classroom.

Organizing material on a site helps when accompanying teachers or students in their learning as the material is always easily accessible when they need it.

IAEN - RÉAA

I created this bilingual site during the 2020-2021 school year. It is a site for sharing information within the Indigenous Adult Education Network (IAEN), it houses articles and monthly newsletters, as well as our mission, vision, and guiding principles.

FNAESC conference 2021

I prepared this site for the annual conference of the First Nations Adult Education School Council in May 2021. It was a dynamic site, beginning as a place of registration for attendees and finishing as a place to find resources related to all of our sessions. This conference was fully online and had attendees from across multiple communities.

FNAESC resources

This site is a collection of resources created by and with the teachers of the First Nations Regional Adult Education Centres during the 2020-2021 school year. It is available in English and French.

Online Learning Support

I created this site in the Spring of 2020 to support the parents and teachers of students needing extra support as they learn from home. I was a resource teacher for Cycle 3 at Bancroft Elementary school until June 2020.

#selfies: reflections of our personal identity?

I prepared this site for McGill Student Teachers in the course Cross-Curricular Teaching Methodologies in the Fall of 2019 & again online in Fall 2020. It accompanied a stations-based, technology integration lesson.

What are Fix-up Strategies?

This site is a collection of references and resources I used in developing a video about reading strategies. The video & accompanying transcript is available in both English and French on the site.

Designing Engaging Classrooms

I put together this site after a day of learning with teachers and administrators from across Quebec at McGill in Dec, 2017. Adam Finkelstein (McGill Teaching & Learning Services), Andrea Prupas (EMSB), Avi Spector (RSB), and I created this day to focus on designing learning environments to ensure the greatest amount of student success.

Why Should I Watch This?

I created this website for a three-hour workshop at CONNECT 2018 in Niagara Falls. The purpose of the site was to organize the material and instructions to be used in this highly interactive workshop delivered in stations to over 50 people.

Because of the teacher station, where I sat, I was able to speak with each of the 50 participants and get to know them a little bit. It is a very powerful way to design learning situations both in and out of the classroom.

Digital Combos & Learning Environments

This website framed a bilingual webinar that was delivered in virtual stations in January 2019.

It was the second time I attempted stations online, this time with colleagues.

Working in small groups helped to add a bit of humanity to the webinar experience.

Using Empathy to design our centres & classrooms

This website framed a bilingual workshop for administrators that we delivered in stations in October 2018.

Working in small groups allows for more conversation. I like to model these kinds of collaborative teaching and learning practices so they can be transferred to school and classroom settings.

Building Collective Teacher Efficacy through Websites

This is an article that outlines why and how school websites can help develop collective teacher efficacy.

There are examples of sites from schools across Quebec as well as information from a workshop on the subject.

Active Learning with Student Teachers at McGill

This is an article in which I describe why websites are an excellent way to organize the information we give to our students as well as to structure their online interactions.
