Funded by a grant from the Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources program, the University of Central Missouri is proud to announce a series of free, professional development opportunities designed to support PK-12 teachers focusing on this year’s theme, Amplifying Rural Histories through Primary Sources.

Teachers can apply to be a part of one of three in person workshops. Each workshop is two-days long. Teachers will be paid a stipend of $250 for their participation and creation of materials using primary sources. Spots are limited. Apply early! Click here for more information.
Throughout the year, anyone can join the webinars to promote deeper content knowledge and pedagogical strategies for teaching with primary sources. Presenters will include experts teachers and researchers from around the country. Click here for information about the webinars.
One-two participants from each of the two in-person workshops will be invited to become at TPS-UCM Coach. These coaches will receive extra training in the Kansas City area in the Fall 2026 and will be invited to present at conferences. Coaches will then offer trainings in their regions to promote teaching with primary sources. Coaches will earn an additional stipend.
