When using the Madrid Metro, leverage your phone. Navigation apps like Google or Apple Maps provide precise guidance on your route, including the number of stops and transfer options, streamlining your travel. 

Madrid Metro stations feature detailed directories to guide you which are very helpful. However, pay attention to the line's name and its ultimate destination listed on the platform. Since each line serves two directions, confirming this detail prevents you from inadvertently traveling the wrong way. There were also times where the metro carts had the wrong line names 

Keep an eye on your Metro card's remaining balance. A small screen next to the scanner displays your remaining trips each time you tap in, so you know exactly how many swipes you have left. Should you run low, most stations have machines available for refills.
