Without flooding another page/section on the Proletariat, I decided to make a separate webpage dedicated solely to the Chemical Spills and Disasters happening all over the US, with the most notable being Ohio in what many are aptly calling Ohio's Chernobyl. These disaster can be contributed to many things, such as:
A failing Infrastructure, poor or an complete lack of oversight, gutted safety protocols, and overworked employees. All of these things have one thing in common, the failings of capitalism. Because under capitalism, the one and only goal is profit at the expense of everyone and everything. This greed and corruption led to the problems listed above and made them substantially worse through the United States not using its time, money, and resources to invest in itself, its people, and the betterment of the planet in general. What's particularly disgusting are the people who are either dismissing these disaster(s) and/or blaming the citizens for voting for their opposing political party. This is not only sociopathic but incredibly idiotic as well, because these chemical spills are and will affect everyone in the country in some way, shape, or form; including but not limited to:
Polluted drinking water, making it dangerous if not deadly to use the water that the rivers from the Ohio Basin connect to, even after the water has been treated by water filtration plants because our infrastructure is so shitty that even our water filtration plants will not be enough to filter oit and clean all the contaminants.
Polluted / contaminated agriculture Water. Causing the prices for produce and even livestock to go up even more.
The fallout of the chemicals in the air, which can spread for hundreds of miles and pollute other communities and ecosystems.
The potential rise in diseases and afflictions to those in the affected regions, such as cancer and many more I am sure.
Who's to blame (besides our various government officials, of course)
In 1980, a Democratic majority House and Senate voted for the Staggers Rail Act, a bill that deregulated the rail industry, and a Democratic President signed it into law. Then-Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) was also in the yeas column in the Senate vote.

Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) comes out in support of the Rail Safety Act of 2023 but criticize language surrounding two person crews due to loopholes in the language on the requirement. The Railroad Workers United account added: With loopholes big enough to operate a 7,000’ train through, this legislation essentially codifies a path to single person crews on many if not a majority of trains.

Numerous emergency and Hazmat crews are currently on the scene in Whitewater, Ohio, after an immediate evacuation order was issued following a train car leak of toxic chemicals, including styrene. Styrene is a colorless, flammable liquid with a sweet odor and is highly volatile. It is widely used in the production of plastics and rubber, which are essential for manufacturing products such as insulation, pipes, automobile parts, printing cartridges, food containers, and carpet backing.
