The battery made for the TOP performs well and stores a lot of energy in a relatively small area. In order to improve the storage capacity of the TOP a few upgrades could be implemented. To start I would upgrade the battery pack to have another series set of batteries and increase the total number of batteries in each parallel group. This would increase the total storage capacity of the TOP. The extra series batteries will increase the nominal voltage of the battery bank to around 16V. The higher voltage allows the inverter to use a larger range of the energy stored.

In order to make the TOP more viable in the long term, it needs to capture more energy. If the TOP is being used a lot it is possible to use more power than it can capture. Having two more solar panels would ensure the TOP could input 24 A in ideal conditions. Flexible panels would help cut down on weight and allow for different mounting configurations. To incorporate two more panels, they would need to unfold like a tri-fold pamphlet from the currently mounted one.

A better current sensor is needed to ensure the TOP's current readings are as reliable as possible. I would use a Hall effect sensor that is not inserted in series with the line it is trying to measure. One placed around the wire ensures no restrictions are placed on the current that is flowing through the wire. A sensor I would implement in the future is the PZCT-02.

Although multiple junction boxes with conduit running in between works well, it makes construction and adjustments more challenging. A better option would be to mount everything inside of one large box. This removes the need for conduit entirely, making cable management a breeze. The overall dimensions will be roughly 20" wide, 40" tall and 5" deep.
