Safia is a dance artist who has recently completed an MA in Creative Practice at Leeds Arts University. Her practice is situated in the realm of everydayness, combining digital and live art in the form of dance, to create a work that invites the audience to ponder on their own existence and relationship with the world around them. Her journey to screen dance emerged as a response to starting her undergraduate degree during the Covid-19 pandemic. Forced to create from the confines of her home, she found an interest in the digital and set out to respond to the unusual times the world was facing. She became aware of the constant cycle of life and set out to make others consider how they might ignite a spark of spontaneity to disrupt it. Her work culminated in the portrayal of facing hardships, in part a depiction of her experience with dyspraxia and the difficulties she faced trying to figure things out, whilst watching everyone else pick things up in an instant. It was a reflection of her personal growth and the joy that comes from finally reaching her goals, finding her voice and an unstoppable resilience in everything she does. Her commentary on the everyday is a means to draw attention to the mundane happenings that often go unnoticed, as we move through our daily lives.

Jess is a creative practitioner exploring the intersections of storytelling, identity, and the structures that shape how we think, feel and communicate. With a background in branding, photography and video production, her work blurs the boundaries between personality and professionalism, often challenging social hierarchies and bureaucratic systems through creative interventions. She is currently studying part-time MA Creative Practice at Leeds Arts University and works as a marketing and communications manager for cultural organisations, museums and artist collectives.

Ashleigh is a writer studying on BA (Hons) Creative Writing at Leeds Arts University. Her writing focuses on life in both natural and contemporary worlds. With strong connections to nature, she explores the human condition and our relationship with Mother Earth. Therein lies existential questions such as, what power do we have over nature, and should we continue to see ourselves as above it?

Julianna is 24 years old, originally from Hungary. She is a contemporary dancer who has been practicing and performing in various dance styles worldwide since childhood. She has taken part in dance competitions in show dance, ballet, jazz dance, and various types of modern dance. 

She started her professional training at Budapest Dance Theatre, where she spent two years intensively training, taking daily ballet and contemporary classes. Following her training in Hungary, she went on to study at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. She has since moved to Leeds as a freelance dance artist, taking classes locally and participating in various projects.
