The purpose of this module is to explore leadership before wrapping up the TOT courses. As a TOT scholar you are now in a position to be a leader in your (current or future) school mental health team. The resources can start your leadership development process.

Lastly, take a little time to watch this awesome TED Talk on Leadership.
This is a quick talk that points out how much power we have in people’s lives whether we want to admit it or not. I believe he is charging us to pay attention to how we affect those around us and to be more intentional by using that power to make people’s lives a little better every day.
That is effective leadership.

Post whatever thoughts you have about the TOT courses. What you learned that you find most valuable, what stood out. What you are most nervous about. Practitioners, if you are using the TOT program in some way, tell us what you are doing and any outcomes. Summarize the value and if there is something you expected that wasn’t there.
I thought the TOT courses were very interesting and fun to learn. I loved the videos that we got to watch because I am a very visual learners and do much better when I can have someone else’s perspective on a topic. I found the lessons manageable, but I struggled to remember to get them done during the weeks that they were assigned with the other course work we have for school. I did struggle to keep the balance between school work, TOT, and my other occupations. I wanted to spend time looking through the TOT work and wanted to take in all that I could since the school setting is where I would like to work once I graduate. I thought the mental health perspective in the schools was very interesting and I think that I have learned a lot. I loved how interactive this whole process has been and I loved the simulation we got to do. I thought all of the work was thoroughly planned out and was at an easy to learn pace.
