I created this mobile learning activity to work on smartphones, tablets, or laptops so students could take the classroom outside. Students use principles of geometry and/or trigonometry to make indirect measurements. They use their devices to ascertain the GPS coordinates of their location, which they input into a website that returns the current angle of elevation of the sun. Using this information along with measurements of shadows, students are able to indirectly measure trees and buildings. Unless otherwise indicated, content, HTML, and CSS are original.
