As a committed volunteer, I had the chance to create and teach interesting English and French lessons to children from poor neighborhoods in Phnom Penh and Kandal province on weekends. This role included a wide range of important duties, including:
Developing and implementing meticulously planned lesson structures that precisely catered to the unique educational needs of the children.
Using a variety of fun and engaging ways to teach, such as songs, games, and role-plays, made the process of learning both fun and useful.
Encouraging the children to express their creativity through fun tasks like writing, drawing, and talking, which will improve their language skills and boost their self-confidence.
Creating a safe and supportive environment for learning, where children's curiosity was sparked and they were strongly urged to take part.
Collaborating with other volunteers and community leaders to identify areas for improvement and continuously enhance the quality of the learning experience.
Helping kids grow not only academically but also as people by teaching them basic values like responsibility, empathy, and leadership.
In the end, my commitment as a volunteer went beyond teaching. It included creating an environment where learning was not just informative, but also empowering, encouraging, and nurturing for the children from these underserved areas.
