Easy way:
Setup
Do Step 1 just like in the Hard way
Launcher
Download the launcher. You can find it here or on the downloads page on this site.
Extract all the files.
Installation
Start Tonic Trouble Launcher.exe.
Click on Add Version.
Choose your disc or mounted image -> Click Select folder.
Choose a directory where you wish to have the game installed in.
Click Install.
Start the game
Select the version you've just installed and click Play.
(Optional) Configure the game
Select any version you've installed and click on Settings.
Set everything as you wish.
Hard way:
Setup
Have an original disc of the game inserted into your disc drive.
or
Have a disc image (iso, nrg, etc.)
If you have an iso file you can just mount it using windows.
If you have some other file that is not an iso, you have to use 3rd party tools to achieve the same.
(Recommended) Daemon Tools Lite
WinCDEmu
Mount the image by right clicking the file -> Open with -> Windows Explorer.
(double clicking the file might work too)
Installation
Retail Version:
Run InstalTT.exe.
Special Edition:
Run Setup.exe.
Install it normally.
DGVoodoo
To get the game running you'll need DGVoodoo. You'll find it here.
Download the latest stable version. (should be a zip file)
Extract the zip file and copy the following files into the directory where you have installed the game in.
dgVoodooCpl.exe
Inside the MS\x86 folder:
D3D8.dll
D3DImm.dll
DDraw.dll
Patch & start the game
Retail Version:
Before you're able to start the game you'll need to patch the game's original executable first. Download this file here.
Extract it and go inside the folder named with the language you installed the game in.
Copy and paste TonicTrouble.exe inside the folder where you have the game installed in and overwrite it. You're now able to start the game using the shortcut created on your desktop back in the installation.
Special Edition:
You should already be able to start the game using the shortcut created on your desktop back in the installation.
If a shortcut has not been created or you deleted it for some reason, then create a shortcut of:
Retail Version:
InstalTT.exe
Special Edition:
UbiSetup.exe
Right click on the file -> Create shortcut.
Right click the shortcut -> Properties -> Add -PLAY TONICT at the very end of the line in Target box.
Opionally rename the shortcut and give it an icon and copy it somewhere you like.
5. (Optional) Configure DGVoodoo
You can re-configure the resolution and switch between Windowed-, and Fullscreen mode using dgVoodooCpl.exe.
Choose between Fullscreen or Windowed in the General tab. (I like to check Center app window using Windowed mode)
Change your desired Resolution in the DirectX tab.
Play around with some other settings too if you like.
