Increasing prevalence and danger of voicephishing: As AI becomes increasingly sophisticated, voice phishing is also developing trickier ways to extract personal information. Such fraud can be detrimental as it capitalizes on people's trust in voice communication and their tendency to lower their guard when hearing a familiar voice. Scammers can now use AI to replicate the voices of friends, acquaintances, and even family members, making their fraudulent calls seem incredibly authentic.
The new era of voice phishing -- deepfake audios: This technological advancement has made it increasingly difficult for individuals to determine the legitimacy of calls, leaving them vulnerable to sharing sensitive information unknowingly. The growing threat of AI-driven voice phishing has been recognized globally. In 2019, a UK-based energy firm was defrauded of €220,000 after fraudsters used AI-generated audio to mimic the CEO's voice, demonstrating how convincing voice replication technology can be. This attack method, called deepfake audio, allows scammers to impersonate high-level executives and other trusted individuals, increasing the chances of success in Business Email Compromise (BEC) or vishing attacks.
Our Innovative Idea: Our innovative idea is a dual-layered AI-powered system to protect against AI-driven voice-phishing attacks. The idea is to build a digital safety net using AI to prevent voice phishing and safeguard the community. Strengthening digital safety creates an inclusive and sustainable community, restoring social trust with AI technology.
