Subdued Purple Necktie

Did I mention? I had worked as a "seasonal" worker — at the Avon, Ohio Kohl's store, too.

It didn't matter if the necktie was Bespoke. Croft & Barrow. Celebrate Together. Heck, I purchased them all!
And that was only the neckties I purchased — without any mention of "The Big One" pillows, Vera Wang, and Apt. 9 merch I stocked-up on at nearly the same time.

"Just one more!" I told my family as I walked in the door. Yet another "Celebrate Together" necktie — this one in red & white — with the candy cane stripes for December the 25th.

During those short, few months that I worked there as a seasonal, I must have purchased a couple dozen of those Kohl's neckties....

For that matter, I still follow Michelle Goss on LinkedIn. We both worked for Kohl's at the same time.

After Kohl's, she went to San Francisco, California and I went to North Olmsted, Ohio.

Color Pop

Back during my 4+ years selling menswear, a good friend who worked in our men’s tailored department would call this my “Denver Broncos” outfit. He was funny. We’d always share a few laughs throughout the day.

Incidentally, it was Frank Sinatra who once remarked about how orange was "such a happy color." Even Sinatra’s Learjet had a stripe down the side of the jetliner - in pure orange.

Pumpkins. Falling leaves. Hubbard Squash. Trick-or-treaters dressed as goblins and ghosts.

Usually, it would be autumn when I'd bring-out the necktie in the color orange. This would be at the same time we were about to open the front doors to our workplace. I'd exclaim to my friend, "Let's Go Broncos!"

During the era in which this photo was pictured, I would be very busy (all day) selling menswear and selling men's shoes. I was so busy during those first few years, I wore-out and outgrew this first navy blue suit that you see in the photo, above. Then, I purchased a second navy blue suit.

Meanwhile, during this span of nearly five years from June 2021 until May 2026, I had no time to improve the flower box designs in the front yard. Instead of working on yard projects, I would be selling menswear. Selling each day — from sun up — to sun down.

During that era, I would go on to achieve Pacesetter status two (2) years in a row.

Back in those days, the flower boxes had been supported on a simple 4x4 post arrangement. You can see the 4x4 post in the photo, above.

More recently, it was summer of 2026 when the flower box holders were upgraded featuring design improvements that you see today — in Q4 of 2026.
