Tom's Story

Thomas had a talent and passion for music and theatre.  He was at home on the stage with Kokopelli or on a street corner on Whyte Avenue or San Francisco.    In contrast, he was also drawn to the rough and tumble of the oilfield, the adventure and solitude of the jungles of Thailand, or the peaceful power of the Rockies.

Surpassing this charismatic nature was his ability to look past the outward appearance and see the person inside.  We have learned there are so many like him. 

Yet, in the shadows lurked the illness that would eventually take his life.

The walk we take every May follows a parallel route to his.  Both walks end at the river - one ending in tragedy and the other, a journey of hope.

In partnership with Black Gold School Division, the Town of Devon, and local businesses, we invite you on this walk.  It is a time of reflection in the company of those whose journey may very much be like your own.

Tom's Walk has as its goal to share our story of hope and to introduce and support organizations which have been instrumental in our journey.
