A file paired with a MIDI file that tells Tomo Jam! important information about the song
Why is this file important?
This is the file that allows your score to be uploaded to leaderboards worldwide! Additionally, it can take your song in-game from looking...
...like this...
to this!
Now that you have a MIDI file you found, downloaded, or made, how can you create a metadata file and get your song ready for leaderboards? (Linux guide coming soon)
Locate the Tomo Jam! folder. This can be done through Steam. Open Steam and find Tomo Jam! in your library. Right click the title, then select Manage > Browse local files. This will open your File Explorer.
You will end up in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Tomo Jam directory. From here, double click the Tools folder, then double click the folder labelled TomoJam Metadata Editor. You should see the folder pictured on the left. Go ahead and double click TomoJamMetadataEditor.exe!
Welcome to the editor! You can either drag and drop files in, or use Browse to select a folder (check the Importing MIDIs page for suggestions on file storage). Selecting (or dragging and dropping) a folder will load all MIDI files in the folder and sub-folders!
All selected songs will show up on the left side (section 1). In section 2:
Add the title of the song in the Title section
Add the author of the original song in the Author section
Make sure to select a genre
Make sure a number shows up next to Song ID, either by clicking Generate or by saving - this is what makes the leaderboard work!
You can add a description if wanted (which will not show up in game, just the metadata editor), but the tag system and difficulty slider are not currently in use (I'll update this guide when they are!). Do this for each song in section 1, then make sure to save!
And you're done!
Next, follow the steps on the Importing MIDIs page to get your data in-game!
