This is an artifact that showcases my differentiation. I offered the students a few different ways to show their competency mastery. This student decided to make a Google Slide presentation that shows how populations are affected by different limiting factors and what that means for the carrying capacity for that species. Allowing the students to interact with the material in a way that they are most comfortable allows them to believe that they are in a positive environment where they are valued, and respected. This had a hugely positive effect on my student teaching experience as this was the moment that I received the most buy-in from the students. To make this assignment easier and more applicable to the students, instead of allowing them to pick their own animal to research, I will have a list of 4 animals that are wild in the area we live, and have the students pick between one of those four animals.
I created a comprehensive lesson plan on population ecology that showcases my competency in instructing academic language.
This lesson plan incorporates explicit language objectives, strategic vocabulary instruction, and scaffolding techniques to support students' understanding of complex concepts.
Implementation of this lesson plan yielded positive results. Students demonstrated improved vocabulary understanding and usage, writing samples showed increased coherence and clarity.
I would modify this lesson in the future by integrating more technology. and providign differentiated language support. Interactive vocabulary games and virtual discussions would engaeg students and provide additoinal practice opporunities, and differntieated language support through leveled readers and graphic organizers would cater to diverse learning needs.
