The unit covers the numerous applications of mathematics: consumer mathematics (chapter 3), mathematics of decision making (chapter 4), linear optimization models (chapter 5), communications and codes (chapter 6), network optimization models (Chapter 7) and mathematics of graphs (Chapter 8).
The chapter on consumer mathematics covers lesson on investment vehicles, loans, taxes and product tagging. The chapter on mathematics of decision making covers lessons on introduction to linear programming and discusses the transportation problem and assignment problem. The chapter on communication and codes covers a lesson on error detection and correction and a lesson on cryptography: encryption and decryption. The chapter on network optimization models discusses algorithms on shortest path and minimal spanning trees. The chapter on mathematics of graphs covers lessons on graphs and Euler circuits, weighted graphs, Euler formula and graph coloring.
