Toru Hattori, Junior Associate Professor at the Dept. of Tourism, School of Tourism at Tokai University

Presentation Title: Tourism based on Local Identity to overcome the Covid-19

Whether we are in a globalized world, or in a world that is going against globalization such as the Covid-19 pandemic caused by the coronavirus, tourism is one of the elements that support our country's economy and the world economy, and it is also an element that supports the spirit of each and every one of us. In order to revitalize the tourism industry, we need to look at our local identity as a tourism resource. In other words, we need to rethink the places where we live and work. Therefore, I would like to use traditional festivals as a keyword to connect our lifestyle and culture with tourism again, showing examples from Japan.
