Before the summer break, Together for Teens was proud to arrange for Mike Scotland to speak at Alford Academy on the vital topic of teenage mental health.
Mike delivered three tailored sessions, adapting his message to suit different year groups and ensuring that every student, regardless of age, could connect with and take something meaningful from his story.
The feedback from both students and faculty has been outstanding. Teachers highlighted the way Mike broke down barriers around mental health conversations, while pupils across year groups spoke about how his talk made them feel seen, understood, and encouraged to reach out for support when needed.
One of the most powerful moments came after the event at a birthday party, when I overheard 13-year-old boys sincerely asking one another, “How’s your mental health today?” - a simple but profound example of the impact Mike’s openness and authenticity can create.
We are incredibly grateful to Mike for his time, honesty, and commitment to removing stigma around mental health. 💙 Together for Teens looks forward to welcoming him back later this year to continue inspiring our community. Stay tuned for updates on this event
