Our community has faced an unimaginable loss. As parents, we felt a deep responsibility to come together, support one another, and take action to protect the well-being of our teenagers.
We recognise that supporting teen mental health requires a collective effort. This initiative is not just for parents—it is about bringing together our entire community, including extended families, schools, and local organisations, to create a strong, inclusive, and sustainable support network.
This group was founded to:
✔ Support Parents – Providing expert-led guidance, resources, and a safe space for parents and carers to learn and connect.
✔ Support Teens – Creating structured activities where boys can build friendships, engage in positive experiences, and develop resilience.
✔ Engage the Wider Community – Reaching out to extended families, educators, local businesses, and support services to foster a collaborative, community-wide approach to mental health and suicide prevention.
This effort is monumental, but together, we can create a culture where no young person,or their family, feels alone in their struggles.
We are a group of volunteer parents and guardians of teenagers from across the Alford community, united by a shared commitment to supporting teen mental health and well-being.
As we establish our group and appoint office bearers, we will keep this site updated with key developments.
We welcome all parents and guardians of teenagers to join us. If you’d like to be part of this initiative, sign up for our mailing list to receive updates on meetings, events, and training sessions.
Together for Teens is a peer-to-peer support group run by parents to provide a safe and supportive space for open discussions, shared experiences, and community connection. We are not a medical, mental health, or crisis intervention service.
If you or someone you know is struggling with anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, or any other mental health concern, we strongly encourage seeking professional support from a licensed therapist, counsellor, or medical provider. Our group does not provide therapy, diagnosis, medical treatment, or professional mental health services.
Just as you would visit a doctor for physical health concerns, we encourage anyone facing emotional or mental health challenges to consult with a qualified professional. The insights, opinions, and personal experiences shared within this group—whether by parents, volunteers, guest speakers, or participants—are not medical advice and should never replace consultation with a qualified healthcare professional.
Additionally, Together for Teens may provide links to third-party websites or resources. We do not control or endorse these external sites and cannot verify the accuracy of their information.
