Booking
Lessons can be booked in multiples of 30 minute time slots and need to be booked in advance. Payment for lessons is taken at the time of booking. Availability for lessons will be discussed with the person booking and, where required, I will endeavour to provide students with a regular day/time slot.
Cancellations
24 hours notice is required should a lesson need to be cancelled or rearranged. Full payment will be taken for any lessons cancelled with less than the required notice period. If a lesson can be arranged within the same calendar week I will endeavour to do this.
Lesson Fees
Lessons will be charged at the current agreed rate. From time to time, lesson fees may need to be changed in line with running costs. Where this is the case, sufficient notice will be provided.
Grades/Exams
Some students may wish to gain formal recognition for their learning through certified examinations. There are a number of examination boards available, for example, Trinity and Rockschool. Where graded exams need to be taken I will advise on exam requirements provided by the Awarding Organisation and guide students as to when they are ready to sit exams based on the grade/level to be achieved. It is expected that any students being presented for exams are well prepared.
Safeguarding
Parents/Guardians/Carers of children and vulnerable adults are more than welcome, and in fact encouraged to stay to supervise the lesson. A comfortable sofa is available, and I will even make you a tea or a coffee. Where you choose not to remain in the teaching area, CCTV recording of the lesson will be in operation. You will be asked to sign an agreement permitting the use of recording equipment in these circumstances. Unfortunately, lessons will not be able to go ahead without permission.
Health & Safety
All reasonably practical steps will be taken to ensure the health, safety and welfare of all those visiting the teaching studio. These steps are not exhaustive, but typically relate to examples, such as ensuring drum equipment and accessories are maintained to safe standards and that a clean and safe room will be provided for lessons. Teaching practices will be employed to ensure that students learn to play safely and minimise any strains or injuries commonly associated with drumming, although it remains the responsibility of the student to employ these practices.
Drums are a loud instrument; it is advised that students and visitors, whether at home, on stage or in the teaching studio, wear hearing protection when exposed to loud volumes for extended periods.
