Denise Mouton

I'm an Early Years educator, Educational Technology Coordinator, and Master of Educational Technology candidate who believes that the best educational innovations begin in the classroom.

Over the past decade, I've taught in diverse educational settings, designing inquiry and play-based learning experiences that help young children develop curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning. Along the way, I discovered another passion: helping educators use technology to make learning more visible, assessment more meaningful, and decision-making more informed.

My work sits at the intersection of teaching, educational technology, and leadership. As a Seesaw Ambassador and Educational Technology Coordinator, I've supported teachers in using digital portfolios, documentation, and emerging technologies to strengthen learning, family engagement, and professional practice. More recently, my research has focused on how artificial intelligence can support educators by connecting evidence, improving collaboration, and strengthening institutional decision-making while always keeping human judgment at the centre.

I'm currently completing a Master of Educational Technology at the University of British Columbia, where my work explores the future of educational technology, institutional learning, and responsible AI in schools. Through this research, I've become increasingly interested in how schools can move beyond collecting data to learning from their own decisions.

Whether I'm teaching in a Junior Kindergarten classroom, mentoring colleagues, presenting at professional conferences, or designing new educational technologies, my goal remains the same: to create thoughtful, human-centred systems that help educators spend more time focusing on what matters most, learning.
