Civitella Casanova
"Civitella Casanova is an Italian town of inland mountain of 1,950 inhabitants in the province of Pescara in Abruzzo and belongs to the mountain community Vestina."
Ascenza Pulsonetti was born in 1852, in Civitella Casanova, Italy. She had 5 sons and 1 daughter with Enrico Tocco. She died on 31 May 1902, in Civitella, at age 50. In the early 1900s, four of their sons migrated to the US and made their way to Lockport in Niagara County, NY, in separate years. We don't know what motivated them but their mother's death may have been a factor. The following is the family tree for Enrico and Ascenza Tocco's four sons who came to America and stayed. Years later a couple of the Lockport Toccos went back to Italy to visit, and a couple of Toccos from Italy visited Lockport.

✞Death Of Woman Called Suicide - Leaving behind a note revealing despondency over poor health, Miss Josephine Tocco, 28, of 409 Ohio St., Monday afternoon was found dead in a shed at the rear of her home. Officials said she died of a shotgun wound through the heart. A sawed-off shotgun lay beside her. Dr. Lemuel R. Hurlbut, coroner, who issued a certificate of death by suicide, said the woman's note contained the message that she was sorry to cause so much trouble but she couldn't stand ill health any longer. Dr. Hurlbut added that the shotgun was owned by the woman's father, Fideo [sic] (Fred), who runs a restaurant at that address. ✞LOCKPORT. N.Y. UNION-SUN AND JOURNAL, WEDNESDAY. APRIL 21, 1943 - MAN FOUND HANGING IN OUT BUILDING - The body of Angelo Proietty, 36, was found hanging at 7:45 this morning in an outbuilding at the rear of 71 Crosby Ave. A certificate of suicide was issued by Dr. Lemuel R. Hurlbut, coroner. Mr. Proietty, who has a wife and three children living at the Crosby Avenue address, had been estranged from his wife for the past two years, according to the coroner. He was working in Cleveland but recently returned to Lockport. This morning Roy Salmeri [see below], 59 Crosby Ave., went to the outbuilding and found Mr. Proietty's body suspended by a clothesline from a timber in the upper part of the structure. The police and coroner were called. Besides his wife, Ascension, Mr. Proietty leaves three children, Frank, Marie and Donald Proietty.
note- After Angelo died in 1943, Ascension, age 37/38, evidently married Mr. Durfy. By 1951, she remarried Ronald Brown (see above). While they stayed in Lockport for several years, by 1967, they had moved near Santa Barbara in Goleta, CA, where Ronald was involved in various businesses. They must have moved around a few times because FamilySearch shows them living in Las Vegas and Santa Barbara. Sometime after 1972, Ronald must have died and Ascension likely moved to Las Vegas to be where her son Donald lived. Ascension appears to have died on 29 Sep 1988 in Las Vegas, 18 years before her son Donald died in 2006.
