The walkthrough video presents a live demonstration of the People Pulse Dashboard, highlighting how raw employee data is transformed into interactive workforce insights. The video focuses on real-time interaction with the dashboard, including filtering by department and role, and shows how key HR metrics respond instantly to user input.
The accompanying dashboard screenshot captures the final, polished view of the solution. It showcases a structured layout with headline workforce metrics, distribution charts, and role-based compensation analysis, designed to provide a clear, at-a-glance understanding of workforce health.
The project followed a structured, solution-first approach rather than a purely visual one:
Data Understanding & Alignment
I began by reviewing the HR dataset to understand the available fields, limitations, and opportunities for meaningful workforce insights. Metrics were selected based on what HR teams and managers typically need to answer quickly.
Data Modeling & Structuring
The raw dataset was preserved in a base sheet to maintain flexibility. A separate employee data layer was created to handle all calculations and aggregations, ensuring the model could adapt to datasets of varying sizes without breaking.
Metric Definition & Validation
Core HR metrics such as headcount, age bands, average income, and attrition rate were clearly defined and validated to ensure consistency and business relevance.
Dashboard Design & Interactivity
Pivot tables and charts were used to build an interactive dashboard. Slicers were connected across all visuals to enable dynamic filtering by department and role, allowing users to explore insights rather than view static reports.
Usability & Reusability Testing
The solution was tested by replacing data and refreshing the model to confirm that insights updated correctly, reinforcing its value as a reusable template.
Throughout the project, several artefacts were produced:
Raw Data Base Sheet
A dedicated sheet for inserting or replacing HR datasets without affecting calculations.
Employee Data Model Sheet
A structured table that powers all calculations and metrics used in the dashboard.
Metric Logic & Calculations
Defined formulas and pivot configurations supporting headcount, attrition, income averages, and distributions.
Interactive HR Dashboard
The final dashboard with connected slicers, charts, and summary metrics.
Reusable Excel Template
A plug-and-play workbook designed for professionals and learners to adapt with their own data.
Walkthrough Presentation Video
A short video explaining the purpose, interactivity, and practical value of the solution.
Together, these artefacts demonstrate not only the final visual output but also the underlying system design, analytical thinking, and product mindset used to build a scalable HR analytics solution.
