My name is Tobias Arbogast and I'm a Postdoctoral researcher in the field of political economy at FU Berlin. Please see "Research & Projects" for my current projects.
In my PhD, I investigated how (monetary) policymakers' macroeconomic beliefs shape their decision-making. The work spanned both a quantitative text analysis of central bankers' speeches and interviews across the central banks of Chile and Argentina, the ECB and the Fed. My thesis advisory committee was composed of Lucio Baccaro (MPIfG), Mark Blyth (Brown University), Adam Tooze (Columbia University), Manuela Moschella (University of Bologna), and Alan Taylor (Columbia University/Bank of England).
My other research interests include the links between inequality and the financial system, social conflict and inflation, public finance and fiscal policy as well as macroeconomic theory.
I'm also very passionate about the fields of psychology/psychotherapy and philosophy. In my free time, I love music production, running, longline, calisthenics, climbing and playing guitar.
Feel free to get in touch if any of my research piques your interest.
