Sigma Chi was founded on June 28, 1855 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio by Thomas Cowan Bell, James Parks Caldwell, Daniel William Cooper, Isaac M. Jordan, William Lewis Lockwood, Benjamin Piatt Runkle, and Franklin Howard Scobey. Each founder brought their own characteristics to the fraternity which helped bind us all by the practice of our seven virtues. Each brother is also bound together by the values, morals, and ethics that we hold ourselves accountable to. Our brothers are all high-minded and noble men who are tied together by the sacred bonds of Sigma Chi. We would love to expand our brotherhood and look forward to having you come check us out!
