Well! What can I say - time has run away with itself and I haven't been on here to update since early April. I'll try to remember what I have been up to. Firstly, I found a lump on my collar bone the evening before my eye surgery. It feels very much like bone and is right near my AC joint. I've had it x-rayed and there appears to be degeneration and a bony growth. It's been advised that I have an MRI. I'm on the waiting list for that - trying not to worry but it's hard - cancer makes you very paranoid and the first thought is always "it's back!" Obviously, that may well be the case but I need to try not to panic too much.
On 1st May, I uploaded my reminder to check your breasts and chests. I couldn't think of anything specific that happens in May and so just went with some generic flashing circles. It looks ok. I also made a Breast Cancer Now T.L.C. reel that I can share each month as well.
Going back to last month, my eye has healed well. It is no longer sore and has taken about three weeks before it stopped being really blurry. I have had my eyes tested and yes, I need another pair of glasses. I've decided to splurge and get a pair of prescription sunglasses, something that I've NEVER had, as well as my prescription varifocals. I overheard my optician say that I've got a lot going on with my eyes and that my lenses are "challenging". They cost a huge amount of money but I need to be able to see. I'll upload some photos once I have them.
I also had the SACT meeting. I've written some of the side effects for the chemo booklet and am waiting on feedback and whether my input will be used. My diary sheet has also been shared.
The Limbo Land video was amazing! Oh my goodness it is powerful! I will share a link to this once it has been launched. There is a launch event in a few weeks that I've been invited to and I'm really looking forward to it.
The Walkie Talkies went for a stroll in Deal on Sunday 4th May. It was chilly and a little windy. Our next walk is Sunday 11th May - we're joining a member who is raising money for a Coppafeel trek. It's going to be 20km...I hope I can manage it.
Additionally, Breast Cancer Now have begun advertising the Afternoon Tea for this year. My story is shared in the tips and ideas booklet which can be downloaded from Breast Cancer Now, my story and a photo of my mum and I has been sent out in an email, and I'm on an advert - here's the link to that Breast Cancer Now Afternoon Tea.
I will be holding an Afternoon Tea this year and my friends, Leonie and Charlotte, have very kindly offered to help organise. I've already had offers of cake donations, more help on the day, crockery, and some raffle prizes. I'll be trying to find out whether any local businesses would like to donate some raffle prizes as well. Anyhow, the three of us are going to have a 'planning lunch' on 24th May. If you are interested, the date of the Afternoon Tea is Saturday 9th August from 12 until 3 in the Royal Oak pub Lydd. It just so happens to be the same day as my 50th birthday.
