In summation, I learned a plethora of educational and life lessons from my experience at my first technical internship at TMW. Not only did I have to adjust to working and communicating clearly on an experienced team, but I also got to challenge my programming skills being in a complex software system environment. I have bullet-ed below more specific aspects of my lessons learned that I intend on taking advantage of back at university.
- do not be afraid to ask for help
- value of automated testing
- rigorous problem solving/failure skills necessary for complex systems
- proactive in project involvement
- importance of quality communication
Overall I learned way more than expected at my time in TMW, and I look forward to continuing growth in my software engineering abilities for this coming school year, and next summer as well.
