Athlete Expectations:
Training:
Arrive to training 5 minutes early with:
Gi or training rash guards
Water bottle
Sparring gear (kumite)
Bathroom break
Proper nutrition prior to training
Show up mentally prepared to train.
Be willing to try new things
Be focused for the whole duration of training
Train hard, work hard
Be a good teammate!
Encourage and help your teammates during training and tournaments
Positive Language and Morale
Even when frustrated or feeling down, rise above!
Role model behaviours and language for your teammates
Speak up! Advocate for your teammates.
Tournaments:
Arrive to tournaments 30 minutes prior to your event OR when the tournament starts depending on pandemic restrictions
Stay and support all of your teammates
Take lots of pictures and share them on What’sApp. We want to celebrate all of your successes and see how much fun you had with your teammates
Remember to pack:
Gi or competition rash guards
Water bottle
Sparring Gear (including mouth guard)
Nutritious snacks
Know your scheduled times and tatamis to compete (subject to change)
Dress for success:
Clean gi and rash guards for training and tournaments
Team jackets/hoodies: wear to all tournaments and keep warm between events
