My name is Michelle Brose. I am so happy to have this opportunity to work with students who struggle with reading. I use The Barton Reading and Spelling System which is an Orton-Gillingham approach. This means it is a direct, explicit, multisensory, structured, diagnostic, and prescriptive way to teach literacy when it does not come easy to individuals, such as those with dyslexia or a learning disability.
After having the chance to stay at home with my young children, I returned to school to get my Master’s in Elementary Education. I received my Master's in 2010. I have been working in elementary education since 2010. I have had various roles in education including MTSS Interventionist, a tutor and a classroom teacher. My greatest desire is to work with struggling readers and those who have or may have Dyslexia. My love for teaching reading has empowered me to become trained in the Barton Reading and Spelling System which aligns with the Orton-Gillingham Approach. I have also been trained The Six Traits of Writing, Balanced Literacy, Wilson Fundations, Restorative Practices, Fountas and Pinnell and Lucy Calkins.
I live in Douglas County with my husband. I have two adult children (Grayson-22 and Hannah-20) and two dogs (Tilly and Theo. I love to read, crochet, hike, travel and spend time with my family. I look forward to meeting you and tenderly helping your child with their reading.
