Hi! I'm a Cypriot astronomer in Nottingham
Hello! I am Tutku, a Post Doctoral Research Associate in the University of Nottingham. I recently obtained my PhD from Astrophysics Research Institute - Liverpool John Moores University. My research interests are mostly extragalactic, currently, I study the flow of gas to the nucleus of galaxies. I have a growing interest in low surface brightness regimes, particularly studying the intracluster light within galaxy clusters !
I am from Northern Cyprus, where we always have the crystal clear night sky to stargaze and hunt constellations. As a kid, I was passionate about learning the myths of different constellation heroes. So, I am pretty sure it was mythology that dragged me into astronomy.
I am passionate about science communication and outreach. I love discussing science with the public, especially with kids. I believe they ask the best questions, and they know random facts which I never heard about! I also love procrastinating by drawing, playing the piano, watching movies, wandering around old cities and wine drinking (I deeply think it is a hobby :) )!
