Located in Central Florida, Story Road Adventures/TJ’S Apple Cider was formed out of Lydia’s childhood memories of growing up in Michigan. Adventuring into the local apple orchards in the fall were some of her fondest memories. Lydia wanted that experience for her young children. Knowing that apples do not commonly grow in Central Florida, she wanted to bring the apple cider experience to Floridians and tourists alike.
In 2022, Lydia and her husband, Mike, along with their five awesome children, purchased and assembled an apple cider press. They ordered over 1600 pounds of apples to press into cider at the local fall festival in October. This is where TJ’S Apple Cider was born. Since then, they have been approached by Osceola and Orange County School teachers asking for an In-School Apple Cider Field Trip. With Lydia and Mike homeschooling their own children and observing how they are thriving in the experience of cider pressing, they have decided to share the cider press demonstration in the local schools.
Before Lydia decided to stay at home full time, she worked for Heavenly Hoofs. She ran the Pony Express program and would take therapy horses to the special needs classes for both Osceola and Orange County School districts as well as Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Nemours Children's Hospital. Lydia’s experience working with the schools and hospitals with the Pony Express is an asset to the apple cider in-school field trip experience.
This program is designed for one class period. All students can participate fully in the apple cider pressing process and will be able to enjoy a cup of freshly pressed apple cider. We will provide equipment, materials and all tools needed to press approximately 2 gallons of delicious fresh apple cider.
