DESCRIPTION

IDIM is an LED matrix presented as an interactive art piece.

The hardware is connected to a live camera feed, which is processed by Arduino and Processing to edit the live images and display them in pixelated, modified forms on the matrix. Essentially, IDIM will act as a digital mirror, reflecting the user. IDIM will use a number of image modifications to insert the user into a digital world and allow them to explore with their own creative expressions. By combining the wonders of technology with the freedom and individualism of art, IDIM helps viewers have a meaningful interaction with technology.

HOW IT WORKS

We read in a live camera feed from a camera mounted on the frame.
This camera feed is sent to the Processing IDE on the project computer.
In Processing, we modify the image to our liking and isolate the RGB values of each pixel we want to display on the LED matrix.
We send the RGB values as three strings (a list of all the R values, a list of G values, and a list of B values) to Arduino.
In Arduino, we program the LED matrix to light up with the specified RGB values. The image will update each time Arduino gets new values from Processing.
