COURSE DESCRIPTION

Fundamental topics in e-business are covered. Both managerial and technical issues are included. They include:

    • terms and definitions
    • e-business infrastructure
    • e-commerce components
    • online security
    • online payment systems
    • marketing and advertising in e-commerce
    • search engine optimization
    • how to build an e-commerce web site

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon satisfactory completion of this course, students should be able to:

    • Understand the concepts and importance of ecommerce
    • Describe the infrastructure for ecommerce
    • Recognize and understand the main components for an ecommerce site
    • Develop an action plan for securing a web based electronic site
    • Analyze an electronic payment system
    • Describe strategies for marketing, sales and promotion
    • Develop analytical and research skills on the topic of ecommerce
    • Build an ecommerce website.
    • Create an action plan for maximizing successful implementation both domestically and internationally
    • Improve IT skills and written skills.

TIME ALLOCATION

Course is based on the lectures, classroom exercises (part of individual and the project work) and written assignments.

There is examination on this course.

ASSESSMENT

The assessment method and the share of final grade is as follows:

    • Individual work: 20%
    • Project work: 40 %
    • Examination: 40 %

All assignments are submitted via Moodle.

Students are encouraged to collaborate by helping each other in class and in doing assignments. However, students are expected to do their own work. Copying another student's work or exam answers will result in a zero grade for the assignment.

Late submissions will be not considered unless agreed well in advance.
