Meet the contributors

Club President and Editor-in-Chief: Forrest Malloy

Director of Art Design: Salem Reaves

Staff Writer: Alex Burt

Alexandra "Alex" Burt is Titan Shout's games and trivia specialist. She decided to attend GTCC to study computer information technology and is now studying creative writing because she loves creating characters, something she has been doing since she was three years old. After she completes her associate in arts degree, Alex is going to study office administration to hopefully get a data entry job in an office or school environment. She enjoys playing video games like World of Warcraft and Super Mario Brothers.

Staff Writer (Sports): Lucy Carswell

Staff Writer: Jashawnda Cyrus

Jashawnda Cyrus is a second-year student at GTCC and this is her first semester with the Titian Shout team. She is in the Business Administration program and she plans to transfer to UNCG after completing her studies at GTCC. As a hobby, she likes drawing, listening to music, and reading. She also enjoys trying out different kinds of food from around the world. She is passionate about helping others as well as herself to becoming a better person.

Staff Writer (History and Political Science): Austin Morris

Austin Morris is a freshman here at GTCC, pursuing an Associate’s in the Arts. Once he completes his degree, he plans to transfer to UNC-Chapel Hill to major in political science and minor in history. Austin is originally from Reidsville, North Carolina, so rural places have his heart. He plans to spend his life fighting for the dignity of America’s working poor. This semester, Austin is serving as Editor-in-Chief of student newspaper, the Titan Shout. He is happy to have this opportunity to serve the Titan community and be part of the voice for students on campus. He looks forward to being part of this dedicated organization and bringing to GTCC the very best of student reporting.

Memologist: Levi Ford

Levi Ford is a native North Carolinian and a first-year student at GTCC. He hopes to study the sciences, meriting him an AS by the end of 2022 where he plans to transfer into UNCG. Levi prides himself on having earned an honorary doctorate in Memeology from Reddit University in early 2020, allowing him to practice precise meme literature in the Titan Shout. In his spare time, Levi likes to study Russian culture, learn about foreign languages and politics, and engage in discussions about gaming economics.

Faculty Advisors: Zac Goldstein and Rebecca Preston

Zac Goldstein is an Associate Professor of English at GTCC where he serves as a member of the All-College Read and Learning Evidence Committees and as a faculty advisor to Titan Shout and the Creative Writer's Club. He teaches ENG 111 Writing and Inquiry and ENG 125 Creative Writing as well as developmental English courses. A New Jersey native, he holds a BA from The College of New Jersey and an MFA from UNC-Greensboro. He has worked as a newspaper reporter (for the New Bern Sun Journal and Elizabeth City Daily Advance) and fiction editor (for the The Greensboro Review). His writing has appeared in Jersey Devil Press, Heater, and storySouth as well as on his review blog, Zac Rates the Universe. When he is not teaching, writing, or reading, he can be found cooking, walking, and tormenting his wife with horrible puns.

Rebecca Preston is an Assistant Professor of English at GTCC, co-chair of the All-College Read committee and faculty advisor to the Titan Shout and the Creative Writer's Club. She teaches English composition, Introduction to Literature, and Creative Writing. Her main interests include poetry, crafting, interior design, and making homemade pizza. She grew up in Buffalo, NY, lived in England for most of her twenties, and is now happily settled in sunny NC.
