Women Recite(d)
By Lorreign Francisco
They are
Not just
Nor only
Obama’s wife
The Crown
Campaigner
Nun.
She is a Cleopatra,
a Rosa Parks,
a Hepburn,
a J.K Rowling.
Straight outta wall street
They are
She is
You can Khaleesi
You can Malala
They are
Nor only
Not just.
Lepidoptera

She didn’t need his help
Now or ever, forever she’ll be
Carefree and lovely
Graceful and witty
Love’s too cold for her
Alone, she’ll walk home
Overly medicated, sedated
Little hot mess
Wild and free
Slave only to herself
She spun round and round
Falling to the ground
Strings cut, picking herself up
She’ll walk on home
She didn’t need his help
Now or ever, she is
Beautiful and elegant
Adept and wise
Open to love’s warmth
She’ll walk on home.
Women Incarnate
Candice Nance
Yea, though I carry the stress
and burdens of daily life,
my knees will not buckle,
for I have been made strong.
Old King James gave me
the name Virtuous Woman,
the late great sister Maya Angelou
declared me a Phenomenal Woman.
The Qur'an speaks of me
as Hawwa, Mother Earth.
Legends often refer
to me as Goddess.
Some of the strongest
empires have called me Queen.
I am Woman.
Indeed I may grow weary
but never shall I fall.
