Wish
Jana Carver
She is like a wish, small and bright,
clinging to my hand with determination
I am like a child, caught in wonder,
holding her with gentle care
For a moment I am her safe place
For a moment she is my treasure
Soon the moment will end
We will both let go
The Tide taking us in different directions,
Pulling us ever apart
She will return to freedom,
and I will return to captivity,
Where the weight of my burdens
will make me forget her touch
And what was once a wish
will become a dream.
