My Silent Scream
Aaron Smith
I will grow our flower in my blistering heart
And dwell within its winter aghast
I will step into the threshold of tomorrow
And forget that yesterday has passed
Your sympathy wrought, all sins are cleansed
Yet the silence remaining reveals the truth
I am swept by the swirl of emotion in the wind
That tapers away the face of you
I am lost in this maze of memory
A wellspring of sorrow unmasked
From my dreams I awaken
Only to watch the hours creep past
As if on a journey to paradise
When once I fall asleep
Just to no longer walk the fields
Of ever swelling grief
The golden nobility in your silence screams
In my reflection, thicker grows the mystery
An ocean abound, my restless eyes weep
The waves crash upon this lonely precipice
For I have erected a fortress atop its misty surface
Guarded by the arms of labyrinths stretched around
It is here in solitude I dwell at the peak
As the lightning cracks through the clouds
My cage is burning, in the shadow of our love's lacerated heart
My wrists are opening, from your sentient sharpened smile
Thou art the cacophony of December's elegy: the death of my sanity
After the night has passed, will you still love me?
The garden blooms in plainest grey,
An emptiness I endure, I've lost my face
And like the night sky as it grew
Like a raven, from my arms, you flew.
I walk the twisting paths of silence
Into chaotic peace
A place where I can flee
A place where I am free to be me
