We are excited to get another school year started. This year, all students in the Hopewell Dance Department are required to know the following expectations. The information within these modules is critical to achieving success throughout your high school dance experience.
Over the school year we will take our first steps into the world of dance. We will learn beginning basic fundamentals such as, movement, terminology, etiquette, musicality and technique. By mastering these taught movement principles and skills, students develop self-discipline, and healthy bodies that move expressively, efficiently, and safely through space and time with controlled energy. We will explore different genres of dance over the course of the year, so that we can become well-rounded and versatile students. We will use skills learned to evaluate and analyze dance. This will strengthen students decision-making skills, develop their critical and creative thinking, and enables students to make informed decisions about dance and the world around them. We will all keep an open mind, participate, be respectful, and most importantly, have fun!
