Mountains and glaciers have always fascinated me. Even though we often assign metaphorical attributes of strength and fortitude to mountains as well as longevity and even immortality; they are, in fact, more fragile and less resilient than they appear. Glaciated regions in other continents have generated a lot of scientific and public interest, we are still far away from understanding and predicting the fate of Himalayan glaciers in the coming decades. My research focuses on glaciology and climate as well as I am interested on working on the societal aspects of climate change impacts.
Alpine Glacier Hydrology
I study the contributions of rapid ice flow to subglacial hydrologic channels and effect of meltwater on the rapid flow of mountain glaciers, also how much do they contribute to streamflow
Glacier Modelling and Glacier dynamics
Evolution of glaciers due to change in climate and their projections. Mass balance reconstruction and, glacio-hydrological modelling
Rock glacier & Rock Glacier kinematics
Identification and mapping of rock glaciers and deriving their surface dynamics (velocity) using InSAR methods
Permafrost distribution modelling
Identifying permafrost probability distribution using Machine Learning and topo-climatic variables
