Tiny Theater is a grassroots performance ensemble of trained actors dedicated to re-imagining theater as an accessible, intimate, and transformative experience. About Robert Marcus, founder of Tiny Theater: Some information local to our Brattleboro community: https://www.commonsnews.org/issue/823/823marcus_classes
Robert is a long time actor, director, filmmaker, writer, producer, musician and performing artist now living and working in Vermont. Robert is the founder of Tiny Theater.
Robert was artistic director for two professional theaters, Theater NOW, Minneapolis, MN and Dreamland theater, NYC, both small professional theater and film production organizations devoted to new work, classic and contemporary progressive themes spanning multiple generations. The work is based on converging generational themes of past, present and future.
Robert became the Artistic Director for Platinum Theater, after a group of wonderful artists could not run and manage the future of Platinum. Platinum is a professional theater devoted to senior improvisation and on-stage performance with special emphasis on helping seniors through performing arts. Robert also developed the senior improvisation program "Living out Loud" for the Alzheimer's Association of MN, and The Wilder Foundation of MN, which ran for three years straight offering free improv/storytelling/performance workshops for seniors.
Dreamland began in NYC in 2008 as a new development incubator for drama, comedy, musicals, improvisation and sketch comedy.
With the idea of Tiny Theater in Vermont, Robert is establishing free and community based resources, professional acting workshops, improvisation, storytelling, playwriting and sketch comedy workshops to build a working ensemble theater for local community performances
Robert has been studying and performing since 2006 in many of the Group Theater acting techniques and approaches both in NYC and LA.
He brings that experience and dedication to the Tiny Theater Ensemble Workshop and all workshops developed through Tiny Theater.
